The treasure hunt for green plants starts here!

We started growing Caladiums in 2012, but at that time the market was not ready for this unique product. Therefore, we decided to stop growing it in 2015. However, during the years without Caladiums, the demand for this crop grew steadily. After extensive testing with new tubers and varieties, we were ready for a comeback in 2020! This resulted in the launch of our Urban Caladium brand. The success was such that we decided to rebrand to Green Treasure in 2021. Under this brand, we introduced not only Caladiums, but also Calatheas.

Caladium

Caladium is a tuberous plant and is originally a subtropical plant. In their natural habitat (Central and South America), they actively grow during the rainy season. These large heart-shaped leaves of the Caladium are known by many nicknames such as elephant ears (like its cousin colocasia), angel wings (Angel Wings) and the heart of Jesus.

Care tips

The Caladium likes to be indoors and needs plenty of indirect sunlight. Avoid direct sunlight! And make sure the soil does not dry out. Water the Caladium 1-2 times a week. For the best light indoors, a window facing north or east is usually the best spot. Because Caladium tubers come from South American tropical forests, they need a lot of humidity.

Calathea

The Calathea originated in the jungles of South America, the Amazon to be exact. This well-known houseplant lived there in the shade. The Calathea has many varieties, with the most diverse leaf designs. Later in the day, when it gets dark, it looks like it is "alive" and the leaves close, unique! In addition, the Calathea is very air-purifying.

Care tips

The Calathea originates from the jungle and likes a warm moist place. It prefers a place with (half) shade and thus indirect sunlight. If you give the Calathea too much sunlight, brown edges may appear on the leaves. Watering once a week is sufficient!
